Question:

Does noise make a difference to the birds coming to the feeder?
If I play music with heavy bass like Hip Hop around the bird feeder,
will it bother the birds?

Hypothesis:

I think the birds will be bothered by the music and will be more comfortable in silence.

Materials:

1. Speakers
2. Bird feeder
3. Bird food
4. Music

Method:

Every day at 5pm after school i will watch how many birds come and visit my bird feeder, I will have no music for the first 15 minutes
and then i will play loud music for the last 15 minutes.

Procedure:

Set a bird feeder up
Fill the bird feeder with seed
Watch the birds from 5pm to 5pm in silence
Graph how many birds visit
Play music while watching birds from 5:15pm to 5:30pm
Graph how many birds visit

Variables:

Independent: With or without music.
Dependent: How many birds show up.
Control: Time of day, bird feeder, placement of bird feeder, type of birdseed.

Supporting Studies:

For birds, hearing is second in importance only to vision for monitoring the world around them.
